Online Graphics - Learn How to Differentiate Them

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

There are many kinds of online graphics. Professionals make most of these graphics. The kind you like depends on your particular needs. We will briefly explain the major types. These include clip arts, 3D graphics, headers, logos, pictures, cartoons and animations. At the end, you will know which one is best for you based on your specific needs.

Clip arts generally come with the normal Microsoft applications and other applications; you can also get thousands of them on the Internet for online graphics by doing a simple search on clip arts. Thousands of them will come up and you can then choose any one you desire.

3d-graphics as the name implies is a simple graphics that can be viewed from more that one angle. In order words, it can be viewed from three dimensions. The best example that fit into this category is the e-book cover. You see it on nearly every webpage that advertises an information product or software package and tools. Headers as the name implies are simple bold colorful and stylish online graphic. They come in many colors and shapes. The most common shape is the rectangular shape. Relevant texts are typed into them to reveal the intent of the owner or website. There are also blank headers available and headers that come with half graphics, half blanks. The remaining blank space can be used to add any desired texts.Thousands of these kinds of online graphics can be seen online.

Logos are a combination of two or more symbols. They are used to identify a company or business as unique. Any professional can design a logo for you for a fee. You can also find some in online graphic websites or on the web. Some people even get logo specific software and do it themselves. Cartoons and animations are similar in some ways and different.

Cartoons are mainly story like graphics that can be obtained online. People mainly use them to tell stories. Animations on the other hand are just like moving cartoons. Most can be obtained in online graphic websites.

The best thing I do when it comes to online graphics is to get a tool that has a collection of more than four kinds of online graphics. This is especially good if your interest is not for cartoons or animations, but headers, ecovers, pictures, text and number graphics. With this, I can edit the graphics anyway I like. This has saved me over a thousand dollars. You can get these online graphics below.

Website Design That Appeals to Your Visitors

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Designing websites is the art of presenting content to the world using Internet language, known as HTML. Many experts offer tips on Website Design to help you design the best possible site. Proper web design is important to ensure that visitors return.

1. Value is key - Ensure that every page has something valuable to offer your visitors. You need to ensure that it is worth your client's while to visit your site. No matter how well your site is designed, if the information is not worthwhile, they will not return.

2. Money from ads - Many sites make money from advertising and marketing products or services. Whilst this is a good way to make money, do not break the 75/25 rule. That means that you must stick with a ratio of no more than 25% of advertising and no less than 75% editorial content.

3. Beware of distractions - Some visitors may have slow connections and too many distracting elements such as animated. GIFs, scrolling text and auto-loaded sound will cause your site to load slowly. Apart from loading times, distractions will pull your visitors away from the contents and lose sales.

4. Avoid pop-ups - It is important to bear your client's interests in mind when you design your site. Nobody wants to be harassed by endless pop ups. Advertising should be subtle, not in your face and irritating.

5. Backgrounds - Respected, professional sites generally do not use image backgrounds. Image backgrounds are associated with amateurish sites. These sites are usually not user-friendly either and they take longer to load.

6. Organizing your site - Your site should be organized in such a way that it is easy for a user to find information with as few clicks as possible.

A well designed website will result in many return visitors and thus a lot more sales, therefore you need to invest in proper Website Design for your business.

4 Ways to Engage Today's Generation of Students

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Each year, every faculty member becomes one year older. However, the average age of each incoming student remains the same. This presents a challenge: How can we keep the communication and learning gap from expanding more and more as time goes on?

When traveling to a foreign land, it is well-known practice to brush-up on the culture, customs, and lingo to effectively communicate. We need to understand the culture, customs, and lingo of today's student in order to effectively educate. So, who is today's generation of student, and what is their reality (besides watching reality TV every night?)

The reality is this: We've now graduated from the MTV Generation to the A.D.D. Generation-where the average music video or commercial targeted at students change at a dizzying one frame per second, because producers know young viewers will zap them out otherwise. This generation has been granted endless satellite channels, websites, text messages, and Ipod music choices to constantly zap through daily. This makes it more difficult than ever before for faculty to keep the interest and attention of the daydreaming student.

And, by the way, just what are they surfing those endless hours on the Internet?

Statistics for Yahoo! search engine rankings were just released for 2008. Can you guess who the most-searched person was last year? Was it Barack Obama? Nope. John McCain? Nope. Someone far more important: For the fourth year in a row, the most searched person on the Yahoo! search engine was our inspiring role-model Britney Spears. Is there any hope? Are we doomed??

Alas, here are a few great tips for faculty on how to better engage today's generation of student:

1. "Bring Cool Careers and Majors to Life"

One reason why students fail or are disinterested is because they don't see the connection between today's lesson and what they really want to do someday. The more we can close that gap--to illustrate classroom relevance to their world--the better we can engage students and keep their interest.

The prospect of getting a job and working 40+ hours per week for the next 40 years doesn't exactly breed excitement in this generation. However, they can get excited through examples of "cool" young people in their field who are very successful doing something they LOVE for a living.

While we mostly think of celebrities as movie stars or athletes, there are celebrities within almost every field. For example, in the world of culinary arts, Guy Fieri is a "cool" celebrity. Guy is a TV personality from the Food Network, and spokesperson for the restaurant chain T.G.I. Fridays. He makes food, cooking, and culinary arts "cool." Josh Bernstein of the History Channel's "Digging for the Truth" and Discovery Channel's "Into the Unknown With Josh Bernstein" makes history fun and interesting, especially to those who never believed such topics were fun and interesting before. Even MSNBC television personalities such as the politically branded Tucker Carlson, and Jim Kramer of "Mad Money" (while not necessarily young anymore), do give an alternative flair to the otherwise "boring" world of politics and finance.

Success stories may also include a recent alum, a prominent figure from the locale/state, or even a friend of the professor-which can also help bring careers to life at the personal level. Show their picture in class. Visit their website. Share a behind-the-scenes interview of their quick road to the top. Debate their philosophies on issues. Invite them to speak on campus. Continually citing young and unique success stories students can relate to are important. Not only does this make learning more interesting, but it just may ignite the "I want to just be like them..." concept with our students, which can also ignite a new focus on their academic goals.

2. "Find Clever Opportunities to Integrate TV/Movies/Pop Culture"

Is it important for students to understand the long history of business, psychology, leadership, etc? Absolutely! However, seeking out opportunities to supplement historical principles with books, movies, or music of today can definitely help bring the learning process to life. Cite a chapter, or even a paragraph or quote, from a source written since 2000 by someone 30 years old or under on the topic, and you'll be amazed with the attention, interest, and results.

One great example is the book "Campus CEO: A Student Entrepreneur's Guide to Launching a Multi-Million Dollar Business," written by Randal Pinkett, a sharp young professional who was a winner on the Donald Trump television show "The Apprentice." This book includes many old-age, proven business principles from books written 50 years prior. However, which do you think is more appealing to read for today's student? Which lessons will resonate more?

Any reference to reality television, video games, or downloaded music for their Ipod can immediately raise their attention antennas. So, what do we mean by reference? A reference can be sharing a marketing article on the X-Box product, or a fresh class case study on a company such as Apple, or a statistical exercise on average the number of text messaging characters transmitted by the average college student each day. Have fun with examples from their world that can be used at every turn.

What movies dominated the box office this year? Did you see any of them? Are there any scenes from popular movies of the last 5 years that relate to communications, or psychology, or even anthropology or criminal justice? Of course! Opening a discussion based on film can far beat a discussion of a copied magazine article originally written back in 1981.

3. "Use the Internet and Technology In Ways that Speak Their Language"

In general, less instances of distributing articles from a magazine and more instances of citing article links on that magazine's website is a good thing (not to mention the environmental impact and cost-savings). The words "check out this website" will probably elicit a more positive response than the infamous "take one and pass it down." The Internet is the virtual home of this generation. They've never lived without it.

Whenever possible, have students research an individual or company website that is discussed in class. Beyond just articles and websites, what blogs within their field or subject can they participate in now as students? There can be great benefits to communication with field professionals across the world, and can even help students stay on the cutting edge of industry issues. Most importantly, they might just have fun doing it.

YouTube has a world of possibilities in the learning community. Within moments, a drafting or engineering student can view the design and construction of an NFL stadium using time lapse photography, while a biology student can view computer animation of photosynthesis. At almost every turn, any professor can add "And tonight, go to YouTube and watch the Martin Luther King 'I Have a Dream' speech, as well as the 1969 landing of Apollo 11 on the moon. We'll discuss next class." Instead of reading about things or hearing about things, students want to see things with their own eyes, on their own computer.

Facebook and MySpace are often intimidating entities to faculty and staff. However, this is their world. So, is there any way to capitalize the popularity of such social networking sites in a positive way within the learning experience? For instance, take those young success stories previously mentioned. Chances are high they can also be found on Facebook and MySpace. Why not have students visit their page to learn about their background and how they became successful so fast? Facebook now boasts more than 130 million active users (users who have visited in the last 30 days), and is also being used more and more frequently for career networking and business purposes, as well. It's here to stay.

Lastly, the Google Earth tool has the potential to revolutionize how we learn about geography and the world, and can be used as a reference for almost any class. Marshall McLuhan coined the phrase "The medium is the message." We now have a wonderful new set of tools and technology at our disposal to "Wow" students with our message, and make learning more effective, powerful, and fun.

4. "Use Humor and Have Fun in the Classroom"

Certainly, the job of an educator isn't to entertain. It is to educate. However: Do you remember a teacher who didn't just teach a class, but impacted your life? Did you feel as if they could relate to you, and could even make you laugh? Did you have fun in their class, and look forward to attending each day?

Zig Ziglar, one of the most successful motivational speakers in history, knew the power of incorporating humor in his presentations. Throughout his career, Zig would strategically place some type of wit, joke, or funny example every seven minutes during his presentation, no matter the audience or topic. As he studied, attention span begins to dip as time between jokes lingered. People pay attention because they don't want to miss the next joke!

So, what if you're not that funny? Here are a few tips: Go to Google or Google Images, and search under "Business humor," or "Funny Biology," or "Funny Advertising." Use the Google Alerts tool to tag such phrases, so that you can receive emails when cartoons, articles, or blogs are posted on such phrases. This same search can also be used for YouTube clips, which has seemingly captured every funny moment in the history of mankind (or at least, their mankind).

Keep an eye out for funny articles, or even comical things on television, that might have some direct or even indirect relevance to the subject. Did you see something funny on Jay Leno's "Headlines" segment, but you didn't have your TIVO running? Simply go to nbc.com where you can retrieve any such headlines from previous episodes. Also, be sure to reference the sarcastic hit book "Non Campus Mentis: World History According to College Students" by Professor Anders Henriksson for immediate classroom comic relief.

When applicable and appropriate, allow an environment where students are encouraged to have fun in group projects or class exercises together. No one can articulate cool and funny lingo to students better than other students. "Make learning fun" is one principle that holds true no matter the generation. Teaching can be much easier when students look forward to coming to class.

Like anything else, these tips may not work every time, but give them a shot.

Faculty members should challenge themselves to reach out and incorporate something for today's generation of student once per week. Anything. Maybe an example from a recent movie or an industry-related joke. Perhaps a statistics exercise in text messaging. Or, possibly posting a weekly career spotlight of someone under 30 who is successful within the field. This could be an inventor of new software, an award-winning local entrepreneur, or a host of a new program on Tech TV. Students will pay attention, and be more inspired to learn than ever before. Certainly, you just might make teaching more fun, interesting, and enjoyable for yourself, as well.

Divert Web Traffic to Your Site With Flash Animated Banner

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Interaction and communication via the Web has become important and we indulge in it more because the process is really easy. We daily communicate with our friends, family (if living far from them) or business partners, associates, clients, dealers, etc. It has been quite some time now that sales of journals, magazines, paper maps have plunged remarkably whilst videos, blogs, games, all are well in demand in the present era. Apart from these there are other end-number of ways in which you could make your company's existence strong over the Internet. So if you own a business, probably creating a striking looking website would be able to lend a great amount of support in getting recognition. You could insert a video clip to elucidate the kind of business you deal in. For instance, if you have a production house, you could add a video of how the goods get manufactured at your production site.

If you had to visit a website that is dull and boring, would you ever want to return to it? Most likely, the answer to that would be a 'no'. So here comes Flash into play. Using clickable elements in the form of games or trick solving puzzles, etc could add to your site in a positive way. As far as advertising on different sites is concerned, the similar technology could be used to create stunning looking banners.

The main advantage you can get by using this mode of promotion is the time within which you get response from people. If traditional communication methods are used like newspapers, classifieds, it might take a lot of time for you to get a feedback from them, which further would delay appropriate and needed action to be taken to improve on certain grounds. The advancement in technology that has come is in the form of Flash as it allows to use elements like sound, clips, etc that helps in attracting more people and it ultimately means that you get more traffic. For creating flash banner there are ample of flash banner maker tools available.

Storyboard Software Explained

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Recently, I was required to create lots of storyboards and previs, so carried out a bit of investigating into the available packages -

Storyboards are sometimes called previsualization or previs and can be any process that tries to visualize scenes within a movie before filming kicks off.

The benefit of previsualization is that it facilitates directors to realize distinctive staging and art direction options with no need to bear the fees of day to day production.

Storyboards might include music, sound files and dialogue to thoroughly previs the feel of edited sequences, and so are often useful for complicated or tricky scenes that involve stunts and special effects.

My investigation revealed that Previs software is roughly split between 3 areas:

2D, 3D and character/environment style and design.

The 2D products can be considered like a digital version of old fashioned storyboarding -they don't offer up camera passes or character motions inside the time line.

All of the 3D selections have the 2D traditional storyboard choice but also allow manipulation of characters in time and space: camera passes can be designed and changed.

Many of the 3D applications are meant to operate in real time (just about) to ensure that a director/operator could make changes on the fly with very small rendering lag time. These packages come up with characters and environments that typically lack intricate detail and textures, nevertheless this is rapidly improving.

The 3rd group is focused on environment and character style and design. Even with their capability to render time-line animation and camera movement, it is very unlikely these particular programs would eventually be utilized for on-set storyboard previs due to their render engines actually being intended for high quality output, on the other hand they may be very, very useful for complete detail figure development, costumes, and environments due to extremely high resolution renders.

I'm going to make an effort to categorize a handful of of the most renowned programs that you can buy at the time of writing.

Storyboard Quick

'Storyboard Quick can be considered a regular storyboard system, as it doesn't take advantage of 3d images. Due to this it's easy to understand and the interface is not difficult. You could import any location photos, which often might possibly be better than the rather 'childlike' clip art work provided.

Google SketchUp

'Google SketchUp' doesn't possess timeline animation although the pro choice does feature dynamic properties or limited animation within a scene, in spite of this it is an impressive piece of free software that has a large service community and absolutely free models. It's great, entertaining and fun plus the user interface is fairly simple to negotiate.

Toon Boom Storyboard Pro

'Story Board Pro' from Toon Boom is a very different program from the other 2D storyboard software listed in this doc. Instead of utilising clip art plus imported textures Storyboard Pro is an amazing illustrating application well suited for using a pen tablet program - so for those who can't draw it is better to stay clear. If you can draw then the program is outstanding, encouraging extremely quick paint and brush options,

Storyboard Artist

I believe the name of this particular software is a touch inaccurate as it is allot more than a 2D, old fashioned, storyboard interface. This program will allow for 3-d animatics, oral sync animation and seems to have excellent 3D clip art and models currently built in.

Frameforge previs studio

'FrameForge Previz' studio has fairly quickly, become the main industry standard, on-set produce,t for directors to shape 3D storyboards in (practically) real time it will output accurate timeline animation and mix several camera moves.

E frontier poser

'Poser' is a really unique program that enables fast and simple character development employing a vast number of three dimensional templates and open source contributions. It makes it possible for a developer to quickly integrate three dimensional characters into any kind of animation, animatic or still frame.

Vue

Vue is an extremely significant, niche piece of software that employs templates to create environments which can be used for full-res matte paintings. It's been recently used on Avatar and Indiana Jones 4 to create jungle panoramas.

Hitchcock Storyboard Composer for iPhone/iPod touch platform

Just creeping in on the end of my previs exploration is Cinemeks 'Hitchcock storyboard composer' for iPhone/iPod touch (needs camera).

You simply collect scene images within the camera and make use of the technology to control the framing, order and timing of the shots in your storyboard.

Despite the small interface the reviews are favorable, however, if I was paying actors to aid me with a photographic storyboard I would almost certainly employ a more effective stills camera which would enable depth of field and lighting options. Never the less, I'm sure a lot of people will find it a particularly useful tool.

The Previsualization Society

Last but not least it is worth taking a look at the newly formed Previsualization Society for much more in-depth info. They endorse the utilization of previs in numerous groups around the world by promoting effective applications and a knowledge of the abilities of previsualization as a collaborative tool and interaction method.

Sketchup and Online Landscape Design - Creating a 3D Landscape

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Sketchup is 3D design software that is used for many different industries.

However, for the hard to visualize area of landscape design, it can provide one of the best portrayals of the 3D landscape.

Sketchup was originally owned by @Last Software, but it was bought by Google. Hmmm....I guess Google thought it was pretty good. And it is.

There is a free version and a paid version. For the average person, the free version is fine. If you want to get more intricate with such things as grading and showing different elevations, then you will want the paid version.

For residential design, you can use this program in a couple of different ways.

The first way is to design right in the program. With a click of the mouse, you can set the drawing in a perspective position. Guidelines help you make sure you are drawing correctly. You can enter actual heights and lengths of objects, such as a house. You can put in the dimensions of the house, ie., length and width. Then use something called the pull tool to extend it up to the correct height.

It is all very user friendly. Also, what is created has an artistic flair to it, which makes it a lot of fun!

You can also view different materials for landscape elements. For example, if you are drawing a patio, you can go to the Materials area and choose what you might like. There are many different materials and you can change them as you like to see the differences. Some choices are stone, pavers, brick and concrete.

A plant palette is offered also. These are fine. However, for a more sophisticated look, there are other inexpensive components you can buy to use in your design.

The second way of using Sketchup is to create a 2D drawing in such programs as AutoCad, and import it into Sketchup. In this situation, you are working from your drawing so that an exact replica of the design is created. This allows you to see what a drawing will look like when built. Changes are easily made if there is something you don't like or want to add.

Some of the components you can add to the 3D landscape design are people, cars, grills, pergolas, plants, any many, many more. These are available directly through the program or through something called Google Warehouse. They are all free.

There is a lot of flexibility with the components. You can resize or rescale them if you need to. You can also change colors of both components and materials.

By adding window components to a house, you can actually position a person inside the house. This allows you to attain a view as if you were inside looking out. What a great feature to see what your view will be like.

You can also create scenes. Scenes let you save a particular view. These scenes can also be exported into jpeg images. You can also create an animation which is a fly by or walk through of the entire design!

Any or all of these features can be used to suit your purposes. The software can be used in both simple and sophisticated ways. There are many other features available also. All in all it is a great 3D program.

Using Multiple Domains To Point To Your Homepage

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

If your site contains different distinct subjects, then you may want to consider splitting your site into multiple domains where each domain deals with each specific area of your site. In cases where the site cannot be split, then the navigation and category structure should be organized to take that into account.

It is important, if you choose to split your site into multiple domains, to make sure that there is no duplication of content. Google is known to drop duplicate pages from its index. It may also be beneficial to use separate ecommerce hosting providers for each site so that Google will not mistake similar sites on the same server as an attempt at making duplicate sites. When you use a different web host to server your separate websites you should make sure that each web hosting provider uses a different class of C Block number. The class C block is the number shown on the third section of an IP address such as 123.456.789.012 where 789 is the C block. Separate web hosting companies should have a different Class C block value in their hosted webpage's IP address.

Some internet marketing companies may try to use multiple sites each small in size containing content that is either junk or duplicate in order to increase the number of inbound links to the parent ecommerce website. Since this technique has been abused by spammers, it is considered a 'black hat' SEO technique and is likely to get the associated website banned from Google's index.

A similar method is to use multiple domains each pointing to the parent site. Each of these multiple domains will be one of the website's primary keywords. Domain forwarding to redirect visitors from those pointer domains to the parent domain is considered a safe method. It is also useful to make sure that a competitor does not end up owning one of your primary keywords which you would want to be associated to your website.

The use of subdomains is also considered ethical practice. Subdomains are prefixed to the domain name of your site such that for the ecommerce webpage of b-1st.com, you may use the subdomain "ecommerce" to produce the full domain of "ecommerce.b-1st.com". Since search engines including Google treats subdomains as separate domains, it may work out more cost effective than purchasing whole separate domain names if your website targets a large number of keywords.

Sometimes it may be necessary to change a domain name such as would be the case if the name of the company changes or if you simply choose a bad domain name. An important factor to remember in this case is that Google will interpret a new domain name to be a new site and therefore you will need to use a 301 redirect (available through .htaccess files on unix servers) in order to maintain the validity of inbound links to your new domain name. The failure to do so will mean that all the inbound links from your old domain name will be lost and your website will eventually fall out of Google's index. You must have at least one incoming link in order to be included into Google's index at all.

Finally, avoid the use of Flash homepage animations which then redirect to the site's homepage. The use of Flash on homepages is considered bad practice both in terms of SEO and web design. In the context of SEO, a flash animation does not contain textual data and therefore does not provide Google with the opportunity to associate text to the most important page of your site - the homepage. Secondly, many users do not have flash software incorporated into their browsers and are therefore unable to see flash animations. In such an instance, a flash animation would frustrate a potential customer into leaving the site prematurely.

Finding an Information Technology School or university can be an overwhelming task with so much on offer.
For a qualification to have any value, it needs to be obtained from a properly accredited and state licensed Technical School or College. Once the credentials are in place, other factors such as technical courses on offer, financial aid, flexibility of courses and other unique features can become qualifying factors.

This article will look at the unique and flexible features of some of the schools in Atlanta, offering Information Technology courses.

Brown Mackie College has a unique feature in offering one month courses where the focus is on one subject per month. This allows for very flexible study time to be integrated with a job or other time demand factors. There is no need to wait for "fall" enrollment as courses continue each month. So You Want to Be a Freelance Web Designer?

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

When your just starting out as a web designer, there is a large learning curve. It's important to start with the basics of html unless you're building an all flash website. Even if you are building a flash site, it's a good idea to learn html. Once you have a firm foundation of html, it's also important to understand graphic design. You not only need to be able to design great graphics, but you also need to know how to save them optimized for the web. The standard resolution for an image intended for the internet is 72dpi. For print, images are usually more like 300dpi.

Another important thing to learn is FTP (File Transfer Protocol) for uploading files to the hosting account. Not only that, you must know that domain names are not the same thing as a server aka hosting account.

Once you have a solid foundation of html, graphic design, and FTP, I suggest getting a foothold in CSS, Jquery, and basic PHP.

CSS (cascading style sheets)

These are what you use to handle a variety of styling situations. Usually you'll have one main style sheet that sits in the root folder of your website. This controls many aspects of the design such as font size, colors, positioning, background images, margins, padding, and much more.

Adobe Flash

Flash is a software application which allows you to make anything from a simple slideshow to complete interactive web designs. It's incredibly diverse. You can also create complex 2d animations with just a few clicks. It's certainly got a learning curve, and I would recommend studying with several great teachers that you can interact with and ask questions.

Jquery

This is a javascript library with many plugins that is growing in popularity. It allows you to do many of the things that you can do with flash, except you're doing them with javascript. That way it often times even works on an iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device. It's also more search engine friendly than flash. You can create many effects with Jquery. Anything from animation to tabbed menus.

PHP

One of the most common uses for php is the contact form. The php code processes the form, and emails it to the recipient. There are many other uses. It's used a lot to communicate with databases to put and retrieve data.

Key Commands

When you're working with software applications creating multimedia content, it will save you a lot of time to learn the key command short cuts. Just think about it. Instead of always using the mouse to move around, and bring windows to the front etc, you can just quickly hit 2 or 3 keys to make it happen almost instantly.

Landing New Clients

This is often the most challenging part. There are more web designers every day, and the competition can be fierce. You simple need to stick to your guns, and do what you do best. A lot of jobs will come word of mouth. start getting your name out there. Do a few free sites for promo. Whatever it takes to show that you are reliable, and can walk the talk.

I hope this information helped you understand some of the key aspects of being a web designer. Of course this is just from my experience. Everyone masters different skills.

Medical Billing - Network Issues

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Medical billing packages are extremely complex pieces of software. The reason for this, besides the number of things that the package itself has to do, is because of the number of people who usually work within the package itself.

Medical billing agencies and companies are usually massive because they have to deal with a large number of providers and carriers. Because of this, most medical billing packages are created for networks so that more than one person can access the package at the same time. This is critical because all of the information stored by the package is time critical. To understand this, we'll present a brief example.

John Doe is being billed for an oxygen concentrator. The patient file is already on the system so the medical biller pulls up the records and goes through the proper channels for billing the patient. An hour later, the patient calls and speaks to another biller. Turns out that the patient has a change of insurance companies. The new biller has to be able to access the records to make the change, even though another biller sent in the claim to the que. The old claim has to be removed, because it is now going to a new insurance company and a new claim has to be submitted. This is just one of the many reasons why these software packages have to be stored on a network so that everyone in the company has access.

So what happens when there are network issues? For that matter, what are network issues? Network issues can be classified as anything that hinders the performance of the software itself. This can range from slowness to a virtual shutdown of the network itself. It is the job of the systems administrator to make sure that the network is running at peak performance at all times. This, however, is easier said than done.

One of the reasons you will experience slowness on the network is because of mass billing. There are certain times of the month, week, or even day, for each agency, where billing is at its peak, meaning everyone is doing this. If your network is not super powerful, this can really slow things down to a crawl, especially if you are billing thousands of patients. One way to counter this problem is to have your billers do their billing in shifts. This will ease the strain on the network.

Other network issues involve the software being disconnected from the network altogether. This will usually occur because of problems with the network itself. But on occasions, the software will disconnect because of problems with the software. This will usually happen when there is corruption in the database or printers and other peripherals aren't setup correctly. Most software packages will come with troubleshooting tips for uncovering disconnect problems.

A network is a complex animal. Add to that the complexities of a medical billing software package and you can be in for some interesting times. But by following step by step procedures, given by your systems administrator and also the tips that come with your software, you should be able to solve most common problems.
